Managing social media can often be a daunting task. The thought of creating content, engaging with your audience, and keeping up with the latest trends can seem overwhelming. In the past year, as Social Media Executive for it’seeze, I’ve developed a love for social media and I believe that you should too. Here's why:

Create

Social Media is great for inspiring and expressing your creativity. Currently, most social media channels are trying to replicate TikTok's success by offering the ability to create short form videos (Reel/Shorts). However, each social media platform offers their own unique way of delivering content and sparking creativity. For example, Instagram and Pinterest advocate aesthetic photography, LinkedIn is tailored for the professional to learn and grow via informative copy and YouTube has allowed creators to express their creativity through video and are now pushing their own YouTube Shorts.

Connect

The ability to connect with people is a great reason to love social media. It gives you the ability to build a network of like-minded people from all over the world regardless of geographical barriers. This can lead to the discovery of new perspectives, ideas, and cultures that you may not have been exposed to otherwise. You can engage with these individuals through group chats, engaging with content, and sharing your ideas. Social media provides a platform for networking and building professional relationships. For businesses, it can be an effective tool for generating leads and increasing brand awareness. It is also a great source of support and encouragement. Providing a space for individuals to connect and form communities based on shared interests or experiences.

Care

Sharing your passions can show your own unique personality and the ease at which you can do this on social media is another reason to love it. As stated above, it's easy to connect with like-minded individuals and discuss and create content around a subject you care about. Social media allows you to follow and engage with a community you care for, and has the potential to facilitate meaningful connections and foster a sense of community, which can have a positive impact on our mental health and well-being.

TikTok

The newest platform and in my opinion by far the most enjoyable. TikTok allows you to create short-form videos, using numerous effects and jumping on trends that you can adapt to your niche. The growth of TikTok has been astonishing, and I would highly recommend setting up an account. It is far more forgiving than other platforms, so you can find your feet before really finding your niche and creating fun and engaging content.

YouTube

The second largest social network after Facebook, with 2.2 billion active users. It is the go to location for ‘How to guides’. Anything you can think of can probably be found on YouTube. As a result, it is the perfect place for a creator to produce longer, educational and informative videos that wouldn’t do so well on other platforms that require you to instantly grab the attention. Individuals are less likely to stumble upon content while scrolling and more likely to search for specific content on YouTube than on other social media channels. To compete with TikTok, YouTube has recently launched its own version called YouTube Shorts, and is actively promoting it to retain users and remain a leader in video content. If used effectively, YouTube can be a highly rewarding platform as it offers the opportunity to become a partner and monetise your content.

LinkedIn

A surprising one, as many people would not consider it to be one of the most popular social media platforms but it has slowly become one of my favourites during my first year of working in marketing. One of the big advantages is that you can connect with like-minded individuals working in similar industries and discover content, tips and inspiration that can aid in progressing your career or benefit your daily content creation.
I hope you’ve discovered something new about social media and go on to enjoy using it as much as I do. It’s always great to connect with and support new people, so make sure you follow us across our social media channels!
